Answers to common questions
1. What is RPMforge?
RPMforge was started +/- in March 2004 by Dag Wieërs, Matthias Saou and Dries Verachtert. We merged our SPEC files in a common subversion repository to avoid duplicate work and work more closely together. The resulting RPMs are seperately provided on different repositories.
Dag Wieërs: http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/ (RHEL, CentOS and old Red Hat)
Matthias Saou: http://freshrpms.net/ (Latest Fedora)
Dries Verachtert: http://dries.ulyssis.org/rpm/ (Fedora)
Fabian Arrotin: http://rpms.arrfab.net/rpmforge/ (RHEL PPC, CentOS PPC)
2. How can I add a package to RPMforge ?
Simply send a mail to the RPMforge Suggest mailinglist with the name of the package and a working SPEC file. One of the project maintainers will validate the SPEC file for the different supported distributions and add it to subversion.
If you require one or more perl packages, only the names of the perl packages is required. We have an automated script to add and maintain perl packages from CPAN.
